A Question for the People of Ukraine

As I write this, the Republican Party has made support from the US Government to Ukraine conditional on the Biden Administration making it more difficult for people to immigrate to the US especially people from Central America gathered on the Southern border of the US.

Would the people of Ukraine permit people to immigrate to Ukraine on condition that they join the Ukrainian Armed Forces to fight for Ukraine against the Russian invaders?

An Army has many jobs in addition to combat, and people accepted as immigrants could help deliver humanitarian aid to civilians living in embattled areas.

Of course, Ukraine has a shortage of housing for immigrants; however, if the US wants to reduce the number of people at the border and if Ukraine is willing to accept them as immigrants, then surely the US would pay to have housing for them built in Ukraine. The NGO Habitat for Humanity could get funds to expand their activities, and they are already active in Poland and Romania:

Where we work | Habitat for Humanity

Europe and the Middle East | Habitat for Humanity

Poland | Habitat for Humanity

Romania | Habitat for Humanity

I also realize that there is the very real and difficult question about the status of the families of people allowed to immigrant into Ukraine on the terms I outlined. I admit to lacking an answer to that question. However, I feel certain that if there is a will to solve the question then there it a way to solve it.

People might question how well Ukraine could assimilate such immigrants.

To answer that question, I suggest people watch this YouTube video. There are subtitles in English if you click the (CC) icon on the video:

I am serous when I ask whether the people of Ukraine permit people gathered on the Southern Border of the US to immigrate to Ukraine on condition that they join the Ukrainian Armed Forces to fight for Ukraine against the Russian invaders? This is not intended to be some kind of challenge, or trick question. It is not some way to excuse the border policy of the US. Personally, I advocate for an open border because I believe that immigrants to the US have strengthened and improved our country and economy. I believe the same will be true for Ukraine, and that is why I ask the question.

I genuinely want to know if the people of Ukraine would accept those refugees on condition that they actively join the fight against the Russian invaders.
